She first won the World Championship in 1927, and continued to win for the next nine successive years; she then won gold in the Winter Olympics, and again in the two subsequent Olympic games. She was in part trained by a ballet instructor, and with her dancer’s abilities and high cut skirts she hugely increased the popularity of the sport. Power was influenced by Sonja Henie.
